The Music Link Staff

Carol Dahlen studied piano at the University of Northern Iowa and Luther College.  Beyond being an
educator, she has served as a church organist and pianist throughout the United States.  She is a solid
promoter of the Faber and Faber series and firmly believes in students sharing their talents with their
community.  Her students have performed at the Prodigy Awards, the Mall of America, and with the
St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, to name just a few.  Carol teaches piano on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
at Oak Grove Middle School in Bloomington.

Nicolas Eggert  Nicolas has an Associate Degree from Normandale College and is working on finishing his
music degree with an emphasis on composing.  He teaches piano and saxophone at Washburn Elementary in
Bloomington on Mondays.

Jonathan Elconin attended the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley.  After studying at the
New York School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a
BA in Music.  Jon especially enjoys composition and arranging music and has written many songs.  He
teachers guitar and piano on Thursdays at Washburn Elementary in Bloomington.

Enid Lang graduated from Lawrence College Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin and earned a
Master of Arts in music education from St. Thomas University.  She has taught for 22 years in the
Bloomington Public School District as a music specialist.  Her primary instruments are flute and piano.   
Enid uses the John Thompson series and teaches piano, flute and beginning band instruments at
Transfiguration Lutheran Church on Tuesdays in Bloomington.

Henry Mikkonen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota majoring in guitar.  He also graduated from
Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie with an Audio Production Specialist degree.  Henry teaches piano,
guitar and ukulele.  New this fall are his "online" guitar lessons.  Henry will be teaching at Washburn
Elementary in Bloomington on Mondays with online lessons scheduled on an individual basis.

Ruth Oliver has a B.S. in Music Education from UW Eau Claire.  She also has a B.S. in Elementary Education
from Macalaster Collage and a Masters in Education from Hamline University.  Ruth has developed a
classroom piano program, was a church musician for 25 years, and taught elementary school in Bloomington
for 18 years.  She will be our program substitute piano teacher on an as needed basis.

Barbara Olson is a graduate of Bethel University with a vocal performance and church music degree.  She
also has a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota and has studied piano and organ
extensively.  She uses a traditional approach to teaching concentrating more on classical material while
using a variety of teaching methods books. Barb teaches piano at Peace Lutheran Church in Bloomington on
Mondays and Tuesdays.  

Joleyne Presthus has numerous degrees in K-12 music, elementary education, and early childhood/parent
education. She graduated from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. She has taught music in
Germany along with 20 years in the public school system. She likes to teach theory and technique to young
players, and wants students to enjoy both classical and popular music. Joleyne especially likes to work with
the Bastien and Faber method books. She teaches "piano" Tuesdays at Transfiguration Lutheran Church
in Bloomington.  

Mackenzie Roberts is a high school graduate currently studying music theory, voice, and harp privately; she
has also studied piano for 12 years.  She loves teaching children to play piano and teaches mainly from
Faber's Piano Adventures method books.  Mackenzie teaches Mondays at First Baptist Church and
Wednesdays with KM Community Education in Kasson.

Reid Spreiter  Reid has been playing piano for 9 years and currently plays on a worship team and in a rock
band.  He also plays saxophone, guitar and violin.  His favorite hobby is composing and he was recently named
Minnesota Varsity's featured composer.  Reid teaches at First Baptist Church on Mondays in Kasson.

Jan Swanson is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN in Music Education.  Jan has taught piano
for years and can teach at any ability level.   She also entertains employees at the Normandale Lake Office
Towers as they arrive for work each morning with classical piano music. She teaches piano on Mondays at
Nine Mile Creek Senior Living in Bloomington in the "Piano Pals" program.

Barbara Wallace has a Bachelor of Arts in music education from Carleton College.  She has taught strings
and orchestra in the public schools for 15 years and did graduate work in violin at the University of
Wisconsin.  She is currently concertmaster of the J.C.C. Orchestra in St. Paul and also plays in the First
Unitarian Chamber Orchestra.  Barb teaches violin, viola, cello, and piano on Tuesdays at Olson Middle
School and Wednesdays at Pond Family Center in Bloomington.
